For the last two days, I’ve been helping Cousin S her her mother’s house ready for her to come home. My Great-Aunt Ruth is quite a character, the dirty old woman of the family. Since she’s been in a nursing home following a bout in the hospital, Cousin S brought over Scrabble and cards to challenge Ruthie’s mind. At first, Ruth didn’t want to have anything to do with the “old ladies” in there, but has since gotten her own table of friends for meals and games. Scrabble, they already knew how to play, but nobody else knew how to play poker, and Ruthie was shocked. So, Cousin S spent an afternoon teaching the “old ladies” (not Ruth) how to play blackjack and now, I hear, they’re quite the sharks.
