I’m making Meat-Filled Pastries with Brown Sauce tonight, which has 2-3 referrals to other recipes (the sauce, an ingredient for the sauce and potentially the beef stock.) All this took way longer than the 2-3 hours I expected, and so, at 11 at night, we’re still waiting for the glorified, homemade hot pockets to finish cooking. At least the pastry dough turned out well (I used shortening instead of butter this time, knowing that my kitchen would be hot since we got the wood stove cleaned and working this weekend), if a little sticky, even after adding extra flour and the minimum amount of liquid. I ended up rolling a bunch more flour in it. Oh, good, the timer’s going off. Time to eat!
